Alef Education, in collaboration with Higher Colleges of Technology and Capital Health, is organizing the “Alef Summer Program - Healthcare Foundation Courses for Students” in summer 2020.
Vision
Our vision is to increase the next generation's participation in the Nursing profession, which is one of the most important components of the health services of the UAE. Given the current pandemic, the importance of this noble profession has become even greater.
Objectives
To introduce nursing as an attractive profession to students, and equip them with the practical skills required to work at hospitals and clinics.

About the Program

• July 5th to August 13th, 2020 (5 weeks excluding Eid break)
• Students from grade 7 to 12
• 3 one-hour lessons per week, total 15 hours
• Free for all selected students
• Will be conducted via remote teaching with professors from Higher Colleges of Technology

Assistant Professor in Nursing. Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE
Dr. Samantha Ismaile is an Assistant Professor in Health Sciences and is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK. Her PhD specialty is in Leadership and Administration in Nursing, Nursing Ethics, and Medical Education and her MSc degree is in Medical education (e-resources /Technology enhanced learning). Both higher qualifications were obtained from Durham University-UK.

Dr. Ismaile’s research and publications strive to reach excellence in leadership roles focusing on Health Management, eHealth, and nursing informatics. Her area of research interest includes Health policy, Medical Education, and Technology enhance learning.
Dr. Sultan Mahmmoud Mosleh, PhD

Assistant Professor in Nursing. Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE
Dr. Sultan Mahmmoud Mosleh completed a Bachelor’s degree at Applied Science University, where he majored in Nursing Science. He earned his Master’s degree in critical care from Jordan University of Science and Technology. He then received his Ph.D. in Nursing Science specializing in Cardiac Rehabilitation from University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. His dissertation title is “Improving attendance at cardiac rehabilitation: a cohort study with nested randomised controlled trial”.

Dr. Sultan demonstrates a history of working in the education industry, skilled in research, quality improvement, nursing, critical care, and hospitals. His field of specialization is critical care nursing and cardiac rehabilitation.

Application criteria

• Admissions open to all school students in the UAE
• Students must currently be in Grades 7 to 12
• Applicants are expected to complete the course in order to receive the certificate
• Applicants must have a laptop/iPad and stable internet connection to attend the virtual lessons
• Applicants should obtain parental approval to join the Alef Summer Program
